This Too Shall Pass

I have a lovely listing on Lusk Street in North Oakland. It was a fixer-upper, carefully remodeled in 2003 by a terrific family who then lived in it ever since.

As tends to happen in any family, the kids have grown up and want to live on their own. One daughter is married with a baby daughter and the other would like to buy her own place. Selling Lusk is what will make this happen... And market irregularity is making this difficult! Even when we signed the listing, the market was calmer, since then just about ever crazy thing that can happen to financial markets has happened.

Yesterday at the open house I met a young couple who I would describe as terrified! They were practically wringing their hands. I explained to them that although the credit requirements have gone up, loans are being written every day and that lots of North Oakland properties are selling at or near their listing prices.

I am just saying this to remind us all, "This too shall pass!"
