Don't Fall for Bogus Greenwashing!

I was listening to a story this morning on NPR about common "GREEN" exaggerations and downright fibs. Non-food product ingredient labeling is not required by law or statute. Many manufactures feel fine about vague and misleading labeling on common products like household cleansers.

The National Geographic Green Guide has a great product evaluation of common household cleansers and also offers inexpensive suggestions for green alternative cleansers like white vinegar and baking soda. Follow the link to see their product comparison.

Look For Corn and Plant Based "Bio-Plastics"

Trellis Earth, a company in business for just over a year makes, "plastic" cups, silverware and plates for events where disposable products are the only option.

At our Green Fair this spring we used them to success. They are plant based as opposed to petroleum based and can be recycled. With crude oil at almost $100 a barrel, it is predicted that these products will be on par price-wise with traditional plastics in the next two years. Ask for them at your preferred Market to let them know that you support Green Packaging.
