Berkeley's EcoHome Improvement
EcoHome Improvement
For those of you who have been following my newsletters, you know I am a big fan of the low VOC paints. I promoted the newer line of Aura low VOC paints from Benjamin Moore in my last newsletter. (Available at Mark's Paints on Telegraph.) But the other day I got a call from Gina in Rockridge, telling me that low VOC is yesterday’s news, and that ZERO VOC is the way to go and to check out EcoHome Improvement on San Pablo Avenue. I had been meaning to stop by there and just hadn’t yet. My son and I made a stop on the way to football practice at San Pablo Park.
I was really impressed with what I found! A woman owned business, dedicated to healthy home improvements and helping people live greener healthier lives. I discovered that there is a symbiotic relationship with Yolo paints from Portland, Oregon, a green business that I always recommend. Yolo is also a woman owned partnership and has thrived in the recent building and real estate boom in Portland. Besides having the largest number of micro-breweries per capita in the United Stated, Portland has a thriving Green Homebuilding Market that has provided a strong opening for forward thinking green businesses like Yolo and EcoHome Improvement.
But the best encouragement for these new green business models is to vote with your pocketbook and continue to build the momentum. Pass the word along to friends and encourage people to make green choices by bringing the conversation up in everyday life!
